Made by artisans in Bolpur, in Birbhum district of West Bengal — the leather-batik craft here grew around Santiniketan. The leather is full-grain, hand-cut into a tall structured silhouette. The yellow is dyed in deep batik dyes; the floral motifs are applied by hand in stages, each colour set down before the next.
