A Jamdani cotton saree in white, with the bonolota — a creeper motif — woven directly into the fabric, not printed on it.
Hand-woven in Phulia, West Bengal. Jamdani is a weaving technique, not a printed pattern: the bonolota creeper is created on the loom itself, with extra weft threads inserted by hand between the warps, motif by motif. It is among the most labour-intensive weaving techniques in the world. The cotton is fine and lightly sheer; the kind of saree you can fold into a small square and still drape an evening.
