A Chanderi cotton saree in white, with hand block prints and kantha stitch worked in green and pink.
Hand-woven in Chanderi, a weaving town in Ashoknagar district of Madhya Pradesh. The cotton here is fine, lightweight, slightly sheer — the kind that breathes through April. The white body is the loom-finished base. The block prints in green and pink are stamped on by hand, one motif at a time. The kantha — small running-stitches that follow the prints — was added after, in the same palette.
