Black Tulip Motif Leather Shoulder Bag — Medium

A medium black leather shoulder bag, with hand-batik tulips — red, pink, orange, green — rising on thin stems against the deep black ground.

Made by artisans in Bolpur, in Birbhum district of West Bengal — the leather-batik craft here grew around Santiniketan. The leather is full-grain, hand-cut into a tall structured silhouette. The black is dyed deep; the tulips along the lower half — red, pink, orange and green — are drawn one at a time, each bloom and stem set down by hand before the next colour.
